Saturday August 1 from 10 - 5 and Sunday August 2 from 10 -5. We have to make room! We've cleared out hundreds of pieces from our storage unit, our warehouse and our basement and marked everything down to move. All of our dealers are doing the same. We have access for one weekend to the storefront around the corner from findfurnish and it will be packed with furniture, lighting, decor, clothing and records all at amazing prices! We will be using a numbering system Saturday morning, so first come first serve.
Details to come.
Erik and Brian just restaged the store and brought all the mod party vibe they could to the front. Featured in this photo: a fully functional Hifi, two Pollock chairs, a tulip table with a custom solid walnut top, the most mod bar ever (it swivels), various mod floor lamps, an orange Lightolier desk lamp, and a genuine curved Brunswick bowling alley bench. Art by John Alspach. Come on by the storefront this weekend and celebrate with us.
Join us this Saturday for the Minnesota Vintage Crawl! We are happy to be one of 15 great vintage shops on the crawl. Check out their page for info on buying tickets. All shops are having specials and giveaways just for Vintage Crawl participants! We will be offering 10% off for all Crawl participants, doing drawings for some fun door prizes and Savage Clone (aka our own Erik Wivinus) will be DJing at the shop from 4:30 - 7. Saturday 1:00 - 7:00, with a 12:30 check-in at the Public Functionary and an after-party there too from 7 pm - 12 am.
A quick photo shoot of the fresh stock from today taken outside Chicago.
Brian is hitting the road on another trip around the midwest to find fresh stock for the store. His itinerary takes him through 4 states and has over 40 stops planned at thrift stores, antique malls, individual sellers, estate sales, garage sales, and more.
In the past we have sent out pictures of our finds from the road on social media and every trip we get lots of requests to post items for sale as we find them. We listened, and we are going to try something out for the first time. On this trip we are going to post our finds for sale in real time - as we find it, you can buy it on our website.
We will be offering these items in “as-is” condition, but we can refinish to your specifications. We have a great team who can restore most anything. Delivery and restoration costs will be determined based on each item.
When we first found this 1960s Broyhill Brasillia Desk we were a little bummed out because we though it was too far gone to restore. Since we have revamped our workshop (more to come on that), we have a much bigger capacity to bring cool items back from the burn pile. Here is a before photo with Thomas adhering new veneer to the top edge.
Many of the joints needed to be cracked and re-glued, all of the surfaces needed attention as the wood was very dry, new veneer around the edges of the top, along with a totally refinished surface with a durable water based finish. One more item saved and ready for another 60 years.
The Brasilia collection was made by American furniture maker Broyhill and was inspired by the capital city of Brazil, Brasilia.
As we continue to increase our capabilities at the workshop we will be able to bring more of these unique finds back to life.
Thanks to Paul Metzger for doing an amazing improv set on his custom banjo at our first Record Collector Day!
